College Station, Texas October 17, 2012- Paying for college can be a journey for even the most decorated students. For this reason, Ethan Brisby wrote, “5 Proven Strategies on How to Pay for College.” Brisby shares his personal story of how he was able to leave Bryan, Texas in 2008 for Atlanta, Georgia where he would eventually earn a Bachelor’s degree at the prestigious Morehouse College. Brisby has set an ambitious goal to distribute 10,000 copies of his new book across the state of Texas by December 31, 2012 via an initiative called Project 10K.

Project 10K is aiming to open doors for Brisby to share his story about goal-setting, faith, and perseverance with other young adults that may be entering or already enrolled at a college or university. “I never knew what it really takes to be a champion for a cause until I made it my business to inspire other young people to do what I have done, and that’s set a goal and accept nothing but completion,” said Brisby, a current graduate student at Texas A&M University.

Project 10K began earlier this year when Brisby began speaking at high schools and other education related events. He has already delivered highly praised talks at A&M Consolidated High School, Bryan High School, Rudder High School, High School, Inc (Hartford, CT), Alley College Fair & Step Show (Brooklyn, New York), and Step-N-Motion Scholarship Gala (Austin, TX). “5 Proven Strategies has opened so many doors for me to engage young people. This is important to me, because my generation is at a turning point to where we need to capitalize on opportunities in the market. For me, the exposure I received in college has helped me do that,” Brisby added.

Project 10K is donating $1 from every book sale to the Team SHIFT Foundation Scholarship Fund. Team SHIFT is an educational consulting firm Brisby founded in 2011 soon after his return from Atlanta. Since then, Team SHIFT has partnered with local organizations such as the Brazos Valley Boys & Girls Club, GEAR UP, City of Bryan Youth & Neighborhood Services, and Brazos Valley African Museum to host workshops and seminars. The workshops are designed to train young people to build lasting relationships, create their own ideas of success, and evolve into their true self. “Team SHIFT began as a paper I had to write at the end of my undergrad studies. I sat on it for about six months before I realized it could have value in the marketplace. Since then, we have seen moderate success as a start-up social enterprise impacting the lives of young adults. It’s not just about college preparation, but also character building and personal development,” said Brisby, Team SHIFT Executive Director.

“5 Proven Strategies on How to Pay for College” is an easy-read 77-page soft cover book. The book reveals practical strategies for effective written professional communication, maintaining a competitive GPA, and ideas for earning money while in college. Supporters are encouraged to take the “10K Challenge” by purchasing a copy of “5 Proven Strategies on How to Pay for College,” and recommending it to large groups if they like it. Otherwise full refunds are made available. “So far the majority of folks are investing and coming back asking for more copies. This is how I envisioned Project 10K when it began; infusing excitement about a 21st century success story about faith,” Brisby concluded.
